Meet Angela C. Williams, Principal

Experience 
I have worked in public education for 30 years as a teacher and administrator. I started my teaching career as an 8th grade math teacher and my last 2 years teaching were at the high school level. After 11 years of teaching, I moved into administration. I was an Assistant Principal for 5 1/2 years in Burke County and had the opportunity of opening up a brand new middle school. I have been a principal for 13 1/2 years in Burke County and the last 8 1/2 years with CCS.

B.S. Middle Grades Education, content areas Math and Social Studies, Appalachian State University
M.A. Administration, Gardner-Webb University

Why I Became an Educator
Both of my parents were in education. My mother taught English and then became a librarian, and my father taught science, coached multiple sports and became an administrator. I saw the love they had for their jobs and how they impacted students each and every day. I love working with children, and I decided what better way to do that than to be an educator. 

Favorite Place in Catawba County
I just love being outdoors, and the lakes and numerous parks in the area allow me the opportunity to spend time with my family.

Favorite Activities
I enjoy playing tennis, walking and spending time with my family. 

Something Unique About Me
I received a tennis scholarship and basketball scholarship from Appalachian State University. I decided to take the tennis scholarship to be able to focus on one sport.

I joined CCS, because when someone mentioned CCS, they always referred to how innovative they were and how they provided a strong educational foundation for students. The schools are invested in each student through academics, the arts programs, and athletics, and the schools have a long tradition of excellence.

Meet Ashley Tipton, Assistant Principal and Athletic Director

Experience 
I have worked in Education for 11 years. The past 11 years I worked at Arndt Middle School as a seventh grade English teacher, coach, and for the past few years Athletic Director.

M.A. Executive Leadership/ School Administration- Gardner Webb University 

Why I Became an Educator
I wanted to be a positive influence for students, but especially for young adolescents and teens during their most challenging years.  

Favorite Place in Catawba County
My favorite place in Catawba County is anywhere outside where I can enjoy the weather with my fiance' and two dogs. Target is  a close second.

Favorite Activities
Hiking and anything outdoors, traveling to new places, and experiencing new things and new foods.

I enjoy working for CCS because of the great leadership and students. Maiden is a wonderful community to work in.
